Mayo and Kerry clashes rarely disappoint, this being another exciting clash between the two teams.
Kerry looked like they were going to run up a big score difference against Mayo in this Round 5 National League clash as they led 1-08 to 0-02 at half-time. Forward Seán O’Shea grabbed an early goal for the visitors, meaning Mayo had real catching up to do.
Mayo were not going to allow Kerry to run away with it, however, Oisín Mullin’s dismissal with a black card put a dent in Mayo’s attempts.
Substitute Eoghan McLaughlin’s goal in the 56th minute pushed the Mayo team and supporters to believe that they could get a much needed result. In the end it was not to be with Keith Higgins missing a score in the final moments.
Kerry will be delighted to come away from MacHale Park with their third victory of the campaign also, their third victory in a row at Castlebar in the National League meanwhile Mayo now face a trip to Galway and a visit from Tyrone in their attempt to stay up in Division One.
